Matteo's Pizza & Bistro
Matt Woolston, owner/chef of the renowned Supper Club, is launching his latest Sacramento area restaurant: Matteo’s Pizza & Bistro in the Arden Park neighborhood of Carmichael. Matteo’s will have the same attention to quality and innovative cuisine that has differentiated Supper Club for the past seven years but with a more casual menu and atmosphere. Matt and his wife Yvette want to create a friendly, neighborhood gathering place for families and friends to enjoy great food and drinks.
Stu Edgecombe, formerly of Esquire Grill, Mulvaney’s and River City Brewing Company, is the chef. Together with Matt, they have created an innovative menu. Pizza is the featured dish and is offered in both Italian and international varieties. But Matteo’s is not just another pizza place. The appetizers, salads, pastas, grilled entrees and Sunday Brunch are made with seasonal local ingredients and will delight the most discriminating palette. All dishes are available as take-out and Matteo’s will also cater events.
The beautiful hickory wood bar is unusually well-stocked with over one hundred wines by the bottle and twenty-five wines by the glass. Matt’s expertise in wines, honed over twenty years at David Berkley’s and his own Supper Club, is evident in the variety of wines and the presence of many unusual and affordable choices. The beer selection is also outstanding with a dozen beers on tap as well as bottled beers. The full bar features coktails and the best Bloody Mary in town.
Arden Park resident Susan Witherow is providing the desserts. There will be signature ice cream sandwiches, including kid-friendly mini ones, seasonal crisps, homemade ice cream and cupcakes.
Yvette Woolston, always warm and welcoming, will manage the front of the house. Yvette’s goal is to have Matteo’s be the home-away-from-home for her friends and neighbors - an inviting place where the whole family can eat, drink, relax and laugh. Matteo’s is definitely a family affair, with Yvette and Matt’s three teen-age sons, Yvette’s sisters, sister-in-law, and mother all helping to create a bistro that folks will want to visit often.
Matteo’s seats over a hundred guests inside and an additional forty on the lovely outdoor patio. There is a private dining room available for events for up to forty guests. Matt and Yvette are planning to use the patio for a variety of special events such as wine tastings, private cocktail parties and cooking demonstrations.
